The general goal of the Project is the development and implementation of a novel soil biomarker with the aim of preserving biodiversity and soil fertility of Autonomous Province of Vojvodina, in the function of sustainable soil usage as a strategic resource and adaptation of soil to climate changes. The specific objectives of the Project are as follows:
- Development, standardization and implementation of environmental DNA analysis (eDNA) as a method for determining the biological quality of soil
- Detection of the taxonomic profile of microbiome and fauna communities of different soil types in AP Vojvodina
- Correlation of qualitative and quantitative composition of communities with physico-chemical parameters of soil quality
- Integrative data analysis to develop a sustainable soil usage strategy
- Development of a database and interactive map of the soil biodiversity in Vojvodina
